What is the Office of The NSW Women's Refuge Movement?
The Office of The NSW WRM is the central point of contact for the NSW Women's Refuge Movement (WRM): a network of 55 refuges for women and children escaping domestic violence across NSW.
The Office of the NSW WRM continually advocates and liaises with government on behalf of our member refuges. We also provide administrative support and policy development for these refuges, as well as resources and information for the broader community about and creating a broader awareness of the issues relating to domestic violence.
The Office of The NSW WRM receives many calls from refuge workers, other services, government agencies, students doing research and many other enquiries and requests related to Domestic Violence. We also provide information and referral to other services often for those who don't fit the DV criteria.
Women experiencing domestic violence are referred to the Domestic Violence 24-hour Crisis Line, for counseling and accommodation (1800 6564 63). The DV Line manages the lists of available accommodation and therefore makes these arrangements on behalf of our Member Refuges.
Once a client is accommodated in one of our refuges, they receive, security, counselling and a wide range of general support from our Refuge Case Workers.
