Walan Jineras- Koori Support
People involved with the Walan Jineras are Aboriginal workers working within the NSW Women's Refuge Movement. Walan Jineras meet prior to the Movement's state conference. We also have two face to face meetings, and four teleconferences a year.
Walan Jineras are available to meet Aboriginal workers who require support from the group or by the chair person or the working party delegate.
Walan Jineras principles are to support the rights of Aboriginal women within the movement. Walan Jineras address and advocate concerns regarding Aboriginal women and children who use our services and the issues they are facing.
Also the Walan Jineras raise issues of concern for Aboriginal workers working in isolation in refuges, Discrimination, Racism etc.
Walan Jineras have put together a list of all Aboriginal workers within the refuge movement.
Walan Jineras have a working party delegate who represents Aboriginal workers within the movement and to keep Aboriginal issues on the agenda.
Walan Jineras also have a chair person who represents the group; between the working party delegate and the chair person who both work together to organise Walan Jineras meetings and teleconference, and other things
relating to the Walan Jineras.
